Optic Illusions

Shingo Sato is the designer that I am inspired by directly. The way he manipulates the lines and patterns are what really intrigues me. His ability to remove the darts is something that I want to get in to. My artist is Craig Tracy.  He directly paints on the body to create optical illusions, some of the same illusions that Sato uses. I plan to use all the fabric I have at home. Mostly my traditional fabric, wool, and maybe some denim that I have. The other idea is to knit in the designs and use a yarn that looks like it has texture.

I think I accomplished what I wanted to. I am going to do more in the future and plan a little better of course!

The Pen is Huge!

Most Surrealist Art is is done using the female form somewhere in their work. So we decided to subvert from the norm and use the male member. Also we wanted to make something from the ordinary and different from what we saw at the museum.

In Wonderland

We are inspired by Dorothea Tanning’s Birthday. The clothing that she is wearing is very interesting, but we are more intrigued with the doors. The write up said  “The open doorways may represent stages of development Tanning had already experienced or those yet to come:”

We want to bring in volume or repetition.  Both Galliano and McQueenuse similar techniques in their garments.

Fortuny

I think what I’m going for with this is more of a goddess sort of feel. My favorite goddess is Nike. I like her look, but others intrigue me just as much. The goddess of Democracy is pretty awesome and well known. Athena is cool too. I am kind of struggling. I don’t want for this to end up looking like a period piece or costume. I really want to use muslin it has sort of a old time rustic raw vibe thing happening with it but of course I have not a clue which dress I will actually make just yet so I don’t know if I will just use the muslin only or maybe a not so loud african print. I don’t know. I really want to play with Tea and Coffee to dye it. I want to go to the $0.99 store and buy a bunch or Cranberry tea and see what happens.
